song: CAN’T STOP THE FEELING! Justin Timberlake
Gotta start somewhere, right!
Ok sooo stats:
148lbs. 21.4% Body Fat.
Pre-pregnancy (almost exactly one year ago!): 135 lbs and 18.5% Body Fat.
I don’t care about the number on the scale, because we all have such vastly different BMI’s regardless… I care about the way I look in the mirror, the way I feel in my clothes, and the body fat index. 🙂
I use this Body Fat Test which is supposedly super accurate and very easy to do.
You know whats interesting though? I dreaded taking these before pictures, and my first flash of a reaction WAS a little “Ugh.” But then I noticed how nice my skin looked, and how I like certain parts of my body – EVEN with some extra softness to them. 🙂
I believe very strongly in the mind body connection. To get the best from your body, you have to love and nurture it. You can’t beat it into submission; otherwise you will yo-yo your whole life cause it’s like wrestling an alligator.
If I had a nickel for how many times I’ve heard a mother say “I LOOK at lettuce and gain weight.”… And it’s really sad to me because I honestly believe that is a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Motherhood can and should be a beautiful, transformative journey for us women. I reject the myth that it destroys your body, in some mysterious way victimizing you and forcibly preventing you from having the body you want. I want to embrace the challenges motherhood brings to the table, trusting it will make me stronger and more beautiful than before.
